The love/hate of vintage tile

You either love vintage tile or you don't. I'm always torn when clients ask if they should rip out a bathroom with vintage tile that is in great condition. For some buyers, it is the holy grail of bathrooms. For others, it is the kiss of death. What is your take on vintage tile? Does the color matter?
