I love what I do. It's not just my job, it's my life. Helping people buy and sell real estate is a joy.. Sometimes, I help them assemble their dreams, and sometimes it's to close one chapter so another can begin.
It's a fringe benefit that I get to see some SPECTACULAR homes located in paradise.
I've worked with such amazing clients. They all hold spaces in my heart long after the papers are signed and the boxes are hauled away. Reflecting on these gratitudes makes my heart smile.
I hope it does the same for you. Here's one of my faves from this year.
An Evergreen House Love Story
Two brothers are tasked with completing one final job to close their father's estate: sell the home he lived in for 47 years.
The Pains:
Remote cabin location with rough dirt road access
Short term rentals unfeasible
Dated and not camera ready interior
Unfinished basement
Steep stairs with low overhang
Out-of-state sellers who traveled internationally for long periods
The Perks:
Darling A frame with good bones
Charming original features in excellent condition
Heavily wooded one-acre lot with lots of privacy
Direct access to the Arapahoe National Forest across the street
Amazing, flexible and adaptable sellers
Well-maintained with no deferred maintenance
The Process:
Cleaned, cleaned, cleaned.
Removed personal items.
Ditched many of the extraneous furnishings and kept the basics.
Put brighter bulbs in all lights and replaced light plates and outlet covers.
Added Anthropologie candles and cracked windows for airflow.
Staged to maximize size, flow, original features and gleaming wood floors.
Here's the Before and After for the bedrooms (and a sweet post script)
BEFORE PRIMARY BEDROOM:
AFTER:
Used sophisticated and mountainy Ralph Lauren buffalo Check in primary bedroom, but made the secondary bedroom more cozy and cabin-like with a red-green combo.

HAPPY ENDINGS
This house sold with the help of staging and a new finish out of the basement. I worked with Jeffco Health and Human Services to find a family in need to take the remaining household and furnishings. The seller's didn't even have to make a trip back to empty the house!
Additionally, the generous owners gifted me with a few items; including this lovely photograph, taken by their dad, from their father's bedroom. (The whole family was ridiculously talented!) The photograph now graces a favored spot in my dressing room. I see it every morning and think of these sellers and their amazing kindness to me.
Happy Holidays! XOXO Sally Kate
